The challenge
Transitioning to sustainability is complex
Becoming a sustainable agribusiness can be a complex task in an ever-changing social, environmental and corporate landscape. Reaching sustainability goals requires appropriate tools, know-how and actions, and those elements need reliable science from a trusted source.
Our response
Helping agribusiness meet sustainability goals
We’re bringing together science from many disciplines across CSIRO so it can be used to address the sustainability challenges of agribusinesses.
CSIRO's HandPrint team is working on software solutions and bespoke delivery models that will help you:
Assess: where you are now and where you could be by benchmarking your sustainability performance
Plan: options for action, how to implement them and bring them to life
Support: your efforts to integrate changes through testing, measuring performance and scaling
Scale: as we develop new sustainability tools and methodologies across the sector, we plan to make them available for accredited providers to apply to their own services and customer-base, providing wider industry reach.
The HandPrint team is developing a pipeline of sustainability solutions for agribusiness, beginning with biodiversity measures, soil carbon capacity and tools for natural capital accounting.
Our focus is on actions that can be readily embedded into business practices, are feasible and deliver a positive return on investment.
By supporting a greater number of agribusinesses to assess, understand and transform their operations and value chains, HandPrint tools aim to enable significant industry shifts and a transition towards a net zero agribusiness sector in the future.
A footprint is what you leave behind; a handprint is what you proactively do.
